Airline Travel: Tips for Avoiding the loss or theft of luggage

One of the main issues today with consumers about Air Travel is the amount of lost baggage. Did you know that over 4 million bags a year are lost, damaged, or in some cases, both? It is important to think in these things when preparing for take-off and included in this article are several suggestions to help protect your luggage during the flight to your destination. First, I should mention that throughout the years leave my purse ago when the company missed my flight changed gates. This was not a small, yet a change that made us travel all around the Houston airport from side to side before our flight took off in 15 minutes. It's no fun. Of course, when we reached our destinations much of the people who were in the same situation that I had lost my baggage as well. The line lost baggage claim rather long night at 11pm.
My luggage arrived, however, a week later. The only problem was that the luggage at LAX was 90% empty. All the Christmas gifts and clothing (including underwear) ... gone. It's a known fact that airlines, in fact, outsourcing the back luggage to your address. Mine was an experience Interestingly enough, where the man called and told me to leave a note saying it's okay to leave my bag on my door if I would not be at home where I decided to deliver my bag. This, I think, is where the problem occurred as I would rather just picked myself of their location, but rather the people of delivery will not allow it. I'm not sure how this happened, but I did learn a valuable lesson. There are many provisions that companies have little in As for getting reimbursed for the stolen luggage. First, there are some things that do not cover.
Items such as jewelry, electronics, furs and negotiable instruments not are covered by the airlines if lost or stolen, so those items with you on the plane. Then, each airline may have a different policy and many even give higher priority to the first class and frequent flyers worldwide. Once they receive payment for the stolen items, is on a depreciated value, and a lot of times you need a receipt (in my case, receipts are required if items are valued $ 100 or more.) So, What can you do to protect travelers themselves baggage problems? There are several things you can do, some more desirable than others. First, and most obvious, it would just pack light and take your luggage on the plane with you. Then take the items would have to fall shortly after the aircraft, such as toiletries and items needed for meetings or gifts for those who may be traveling to visit. Remember that electronic devices, furs, jewelry and items not covered by the airlines in case something happens.
The identification of the bag is another important thing to remember if ever need to file a claim. Therefore, always make sure your name and contact information is on the outside of your baggage as well as in inside in case the labels on the bags to be dropped and the airline has to get to you. Take a quick snapshot of the bag before check-in only in case something is broken or torn during the flight. After arriving at your destination, take a look inside your bag and make sure nothing is skimmed the top of thieves with access to your luggage. Finally, if you really do not want to check in bags and have a little extra money, you can always send luggage overnight via FedEx or Luggage Concierge. I know it seems a little higher, but each has preferred methods and many people actually pay $ 50 or whatever it costs only for have peace of mind and their baggage, just delivered to your door. One of about 150 passengers each time they have a problem with a mishandled bag last year. Thus if there's one thing to remember is always a good idea just take precautions with your luggage, especially during the holidays and have a great flight.
